Gapsted Wines has performed strongly at a number of recent wine awards, which included winning the Best Fortified category at the North East Wine Challenge and a slew of silver medals at the Rutherglen Wine Show.
The Best Fortified category win, which was for our soon to be released Limited Release Vintage Touriga, was secured after judges tasted a large selection of wines from across the Alpine Valleys, Beechworth, Rutherglen, Glenrowan and the King Valley wine regions.
Gapsted Wines also won Gold and Silver awards for a number of its other wines, including the Valley Selection 2016 Riesling - which also won a Silver Award at the 2016 Melbourne International Wine Competition - and Limited Release 2016 Fiano.
In the same month, four of our wines won silver medals at the Rutherglen Wine Show. These wines were our Valley Selection Riesling 2016, Tobacco Road Pinot Grigio 2016, Limited Release Viognier 2016, and Gapsted Fruity Moscato 2016.

The 2016 vintage of our popular Tobacco Road Pinot Noir is now in stock.
The 2015 version of this wine, which James Halliday gave 94 points, sold out earlier this year and we expect a similar response to the 2016 vintage.
This wine displays a brilliant ruby red colour, while the nose shows lifted black cherry and red berry aromas. These aromas are reflected in the palate with cherry and strawberry flavours balanced by some earthy notes. Partial barrel fermentation in French oak complements these distinctive fruit flavours.
The tannins are soft and fine grained, resulting in a wine which is ideal for immediate consumption or short-term to medium-term ageing.
It's a great match with roast duck, or try with green mango salad.
